You know him. Lady. Show Me The Way. Come Sail Away. Mr Roboto, Babe. Yeah, you know, that guy!. It’s Dennis DeYoung, singer from the legendary band Styx!
Dennis has a new album out called 26 East: Volume 1 and he wants you to check it out. But he also wants you to hear a personal message from him about treating yourself and others right.
You may not know just how funny and passionate Dennis DeYoung is, but you will after you listen to this album. His wonderful sarcastic wit is on display both in the interview and on the 26 East: Volume 1 album, as songs like “With All Due Respect so poignantly display.
The story of how the album came together and the role that Dennis’s friend Jim Peterik (Survivor, The Ides of March ) had in it coming together is great, as is how they chose the songs that make up the album. The story of working with Julian Lennon on the album is, of course, great too.
And what an album it is.
If you are a fan of the classic Styx sound, and who isn’t, then 26 East: Volume 1 delivers in spades. But as we said, Dennis DeYoung has a lot to say to you, and the album is just a part of it. He wants you to cancel out all the white noise in society, and listen and respect each other. It’s a powerful message that resonates at any time, but especially right now with what the world is going through.
So sit back and give a listen. Expect to laugh often and maybe think about some things differently, and then pre-order 26 East: Volume 1. After all, when that record and the already recorded 26 East: Volume 2 are out Dennis says he’s done, and there will be no ,more music from him.
We can only hope he’s wrong.
