WTMusic: Ilan Rubin Returns to WTM

Ilan Rubin is back on the We Talk Music podcast talking about his epic release Heart, Mind, Body and Soul.

Ilan originally visited the show back in September for an episode titled New Regime, New Ideas. Talking to host Brett about the Heart EP, they discussed that release plans he had for The New Regime in the future. Now that all the EP’s are out and the whole album is available Ilan Rubin returns this time to go one on one with WTM’s other host Mo.

Ilan is an incredibly cerebral musician. A master of multiple instruments and excellent singer, The New Regime is his project, done his way.

In this chat with Mo we go heavy into the psychology behind the sequencing of the album. You won’t believe the incredible amount of thought that went into getting that just right to be the maximum listening experience. The chat also veers in song arrangements and what it is that makes Mo’s favorite track Sweet Kind of Suffering so unique.

There’s also an interesting chat on why it’s been so long since an album by The New Regime, and why it won’t ever be that long again. Of course with the pandemic hitting the world how that effects his schedule is a topic, as is his philosophy for live events and recreating the studio sound.

This is definitely a terrific episode for aspiring musicians. The thoughtful words of Ilan Rubin carry much wisdom despite his still young age, and we’re sure it’s one you’ll want to check out.
