WTMusic: Celebrate The Free Spirits With Chris Birkett

Chris Birkett has had a career of remarkable success. He’s worked as a producer or sound engineer with am incredible lineup of artists. Among those he’s worked with are Sinead O’Connor, Steve Earle, Buffy Sainte-Marie, Thomas Dolby and Mutt Lange. But Chris Birkett is also an accomplished musician himself, and with his new band The Free Spirits he’s created an album designed to uplift your soul called 11:11.

To put it simply, Chris Birkett has led a life. From his time as a homeless youth to his success with his name on over 100 million albums that have sold, that life experience is reflected in how he lives his life today. For evidence you need look no further than his work collaborating with Shari Tallon on 11:11. He lives his life as the living embodiment of what is means to pay it forward, and that’s something we could all strive toward.

Join him as he talks about the album, the inspirations, and the joint effort of the partnership, as well as bringing the flute back to rock music. Chris also shares who he’s producing now. This leads to him talking about how proud he is to have become a recent Canadian citizen and his efforts to share Canada’s music to the world,

Of course since we get such an in depth view of Chris;s life we also get some great stories, like producing I Do Not Want What I Haven’t Got and the recording of Nothing Compares 2 U. Plus he shares a funny story about working with the iconic Mel Brooks.
