The We Talk Music podcast is proud to have the chance to induct a new entry into the Equally Nice and Talented Guy Hall of Fame! That’s because Paul Lidel of Dangerous Toys and 99 Crimes fame joins the show.
Paul is a world class guitarist who’s also played with Dirty Looks, Broken Teeth and Adrenaline Factor. Mr. Lidel also passes along his knowledge through instructional videos, books and private lessons. In addition, Paul has an excellent singing voice, taking on those duties with 99 Crimes.
There’s so much to dive into on this one, so take a deep breath and join us as we discuss:
- How 99 Crimes came to be part of the Hollywood Hairspray Volume 8 compilation album from Perris Records. He talks the exposure the band has gotten from it
- His singing and how he feels about doing it
- The 99 Crimes self titled debut album from earlier this year and what song he on it he thinks best represents the band
- What ‘s next for Dangerous Toys and the album cover they have for their upcoming album
- His prolific songwriting and how he and 99 Crimes decide what songs to play from such an already enormous library of songs
- Memories of the early years with Dirty Looks
- Coming into Dangerous Toys just before their 2nd album and when he felt he was able to fully contribute to the band the way he wanted to
- Looking back on some thoughts from Paul Lidel many years ago on how the internet would change music, and how right he was or wasn’t
- The amazing cover to the Dirty Looks album “Turn of the Screw”
A great chat with a great musician and an even better guy, we can’t wait to get Paul Lidel back on the air. And make sure to check out our interview with Dangerous Toys lead singer Jason McMaster. It’s from February of 2018 and titled “Coffee and Metal Nerds”.
