WTMusic: Mackenzie Nicole – Mystic & Mental Health

Mackenzie Nicole is a very special musical artist. Her new album Mystic shares her journey with her mental health, and the poignant story and wonderful execution of the album belies her age.

Our experience interviewing Mackenzie left us looking for words to properly describe her. All the words that came to mind seemed to start with the letter U. She is undeniable, unfiltered, unbelievable and unstoppable. Those kind of qualities make for a great interview. That’s why even after 90 minutes with Mackenzie we felt like we had barely started. There’s just so much to unpack with a unique person like her.

We start this episode with Mackenzie Nicole talking about her previous album, The Edge. She lets us know how events from it led to her mental health breakdown. From there we go into the process of building her life back up, and the role her music played. We go into detail on the music videos that combine to make a short film for Mystic, as it shows the journey of The Girl. There’s lots of behind the scenes moments discussed, both the funny, surreal and emotional process that the process was.
