We Talk Music is digging deep! This time Brett welcomes vocalist and guitarist Kenny Hickey from the band Silvertomb to the show. Kenny is on to promote the band’s first album Edge of Existence which was recently released from Long Branch Records.
Silvertomb was formed featuring several of the members of Seventh Void. And of course Kenny Hickey and drummer Johnny Kelly are best known for their work as members of Type O Negative. Despite a desire to try and quit the music business altogether, Kenny found he couldn’t and so we have Edge of Existence; we talk that as well as a bunch of other topics including:
- The reason there was such a gap between recordings for Kenny
- The writing process for the album
- Translating the songs from the album to live performance
- The differences between Seventh Void and Silvertomb
- The brotherhood of being in bands with the same guys
- The New York attitude
- The album cover and the process behind it
- How long it took him to get back to playing after his accident
- The emotional content of the songs
- How they decide on the setlist
- How Kenny wound up becoming a singer
- Advice that Kenny would give his younger self
