WTMusic: Flo V. Schwarz – Silent No More

Pyogenesis‘ singer, guitarist and founder, the ultra talented Flo V. Schwarz, is We Talk Music’s latest guest, and we couldn’t be happier.

One of the founding fathers of gothic metal, Pyogenesis’s discography has spanned a wife variety of musical genres. As led by Flo V. Schwarz, they’ve evolved from death metal, to alternative rock, to pop punk over the years.

The one and only Flo V. Schwarz.
The one and only Flo V. Schwarz.

Now back with their newest album, A Silent Soul Screams Loudly, the band has completed their Steampunk inspired trilogy with an Avant-garde / melodic metal sound. It’s a perfect complement to the other two albums of the trilogy, A Century in the Curse of Time and A Kingdom to Disappear.

Many topics are discussed during the interview, including:

  • How the new album is a compliment but also stands alone from the other two parts of the trilogy
  • The writing process of Flo V. Schwarz
  • How the label he created, Hamburg Records, has evolved into handling talent
  • What the success of Hamburg Records allows him to do with regards to Pyogenesis and his philosophy for the company
  • Giving everything you got with the singing and how taxing that is
  • Tour plans and how they relate to A Silent Soul Screams Loudly

And that’s just part of what we cover, there’s also:

  • What musical genres Pyogenesis may pursue in the future
  • Where he suggests a new listener should start if checking out the band’s discography
  • What kind of control he can and can’t take in the making of the music videos
  • The story behind how Lord of the Lost’s Chris Harms came to do a duet with Flo on Modern Prometheus
  • The influence listening to Iron Maiden’s Somewhere in Time had on him, and how he wanted the album cover of A Silent Soul Screams Loudly to have a similar effect
  • Flo’s reasoning behind why no live Pyogenesis will ever exist

Our many thanks go to Flo V. Schwarz for his generous time spent with us, and be on the look out for much more We Talk Music coming your way soon.
