On the latest episode of the We Talk Music podcast Brett & Mo are joined by Steve “Lips” Kudlow of the mega influential band Anvil.
Vocalist and guitarist Lips was Immortalized in the award winning 2008 documentary Anvil! The Story of Anvil along with his childhood friend, drummer Robb Reiner. Since it’s release the band’s visibility has grown exponentially, and with that the band has continued to turn out excellent heavy metal album after at excellent heavy metal album.
Their 18th studio album, Legal at Last, is out on February 14, 2020 from AFM Records.
With that Lips joined us for an inclusive interview covering a wide variety of the thoughts foremost on Lips mind, such as:
- How the band’s advocacy for hemp is much more than people presume
- His frustration with people who accept what they’re told instead of taking the time to form their own opinion
- How the animation on the Nabbed in Nebraska video came together
- The meaning of the song I’m Alive and how the band is still kicking ass
- The lack of money in the music industry
- Why other documentary’s don’t have the same impact that Anvil’s did
- His thoughts of a couple of key scenes from the film
- Some incredible stories you must hear as only Steve “Lips” Kudlow can tell them
- How he’s a proud Canadian
This is only a small sample of what we cover. It’s a long conversation because it’s incredible, as Lips is an incredibly thoughtful and candid interview.Don’t listen to it for us, listen to it for yourself. You deserve it. Life has changed a lot for Anvil since the movie came out. But son’t worry, Lips and Robb will always stay the same, and we’re eternally grateful for that.
