From the Publisher – Collecting the comic book crossover event of the year where Ponies, Autobots, and Decepticons mix it up together! When Queen Chrysalis casts a spell looking for more changelings, she accidentally interferes with a malfunctioning Spacebridge! What’s this mean for our favorite fillies? There are suddenly a bunch of Autobots and Decepticons in Equestria! And as the dust settles, Rarity and Arcee find themselves teaming up against a hostile Decepticon force. Plus Spike and Grimlock; Pinkie Pie, Gauge, and Shockwave; Fluttershy, Discord, and Soundwave; Rainbow Dash and Windblade; and Optimus Prime and Twilight Sparkle all team up for more adventures because, in the end, Ponies and Autobots are both fighting for friendship.
Our We Talk Comics WeView
Evil twisted Queen Chrysalis wants the world of Equestria to pay for failing to appreciate her.
So her gang of Changelings use their spellcasting magic to bring forth other changelings from other worlds to tip the scales in her favor. And who crosses the dimensions? The Transformers!
Several Autobots end up in various parts of Equestria and are tickled pink when they meet every pony. But their perfect meetups are interrupted by the marauding Decepticons who see this new world and its inhabitants as just raw resources to plunder. Together they use Autobot might and Pony magic to put an end to Decepticon tyranny and maybe almost kill a few with kindness.
Only in IDW can we read stories about how Rarity saves Arcee from Starscream with a magic blanket or about Spike’s quick technical intuition can save Grimlock from being pummeled by Devastator or about Shockwave crashing a Pony cooking show with dangerous utensils.
After reading the several stories, the reader will realized that none of them are wacky or convoluted. Instead, the dialogue and depictions are faithful to both franchises which makes it both fun and violent. It is funny violence!
Writers James Asmus, Ian Flynn and Sam Maggs certainly knew both source materials and fandoms to make this meeting of the worlds a fun read. Don’t turn the pages too quickly or you might miss a sight gag which only a fan of the toy franchises will know.
The only story I had a hard time swallowing was the invasion of the Insecticons. There is no way in the multi-verse can the Insecticons lose to Ponies. Seriously.
Rating – Very Fine+(VFN+)) or 8.5/10
