Our We Talk Comics WeView – When looking for potential books to review on ComixCentral I was instantly drawn to the cover of Crisis Of FR Earths #1. It contains so much personality, and brilliantly conveys the tone of the pages inside.
Eugenia Koumaki is the exact type of artist I enjoy. Emphasizing facial expressions and body language bring the characters to life. Just how much did I enjoy her art? Let’s put it this way, I’d consider it a privilege to have her do a piece for my own upcoming graphic novel.
The book is paced extremely well. 3 writers are credited on the book, Jonathan Biermann, Patrick Church and Brianna Corrillo, but they wisely let the dialogue step aside and make way for the art to tell the subtleties needed for the story. While part of me would like a little more character development it’s a bit tricky, because doing so could slow the book down and the flow is one of the comics best parts. It’s a very difficult balance to maintain.
Ultimately this is a strong opening issue setting up the world and main characters that promises to get even better as it goes on, and I’m definitely on board.
