The legendary Dave Sim is on the mighty We Talk Podcasts podcast, and it’s incredible.
In a career spanning more than 4 decades, including a groundbreaking run on his self published book Cerebus the Aardvark with collaborator Gerhard. (click for audio from a panel featuring Gerhard at the Calgary Expo), Dave Sim literally changed the comic book industry.
On this episode Dave Sim shared stories and insights from early days of publishing Cerebus. Those were some amazing times from the early days of independent comic book making dealing with stores and printers. Then he tells us how those stories tie into the present day for creators.
And also discusses seeing the impact Cerebus had including the proliferation of Anthropomorphic Animals like Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Adolescent Radioactive Black Belt Hamsters and other contemporaries of Cerebus the Aardvark in the indie comic book world.
Dave also shares insights into the consistency of the Cerebus character despite the shifting direction the series took on as a whole begininng with High Society, Church & State and Jaka’s story. and the logic behind creating the Cerebus phone books.
