Awoooo! It’s Monster Chiller Horror Theatre! The curse of the Mummy has struck Kung Fu Electric Boogaloo! After recording two full episodes, we found the tapes blank! With Stan and Brad off trying to free KFEB from this ancient evil, Jim, Jack, and Nick jump in to record a quick overview of the lost reviews.Â
In their search for the ultimate B-Movie, KFEB looks at Dracula versus Frankenstein (1971) and Tale of the Mummy (1998). Also there is some talk about the other two (!) films called Dracula versus Frankenstein that were released within a space of only three years.
In Dracula versus Frankenstein, Judith Fontaine (Regina Carrol) is looking for her sister Joanie, who has disappeared into the hippie community of Venice, California. It turns out Joanie has become the victim of Groton (Lon Chaney Jr.), an axe-wielding homicidal maniac working for Dr. Durray (J. Carrol Naish), who is really the last of the Frankensteins and is now running a house of horrors by the beach and is performing experiments on Gorton’s victims.Â
Meanwhile, in Tale of the Mummy, an archaeologist crew, headed by Prof. Turkel (Christopher Lee) discovers the tomb of Talos in Egypt, once a sinister and horrific prince during the reign of the pharaohs. They realize too late that they are releasing a gruesome and evil force, but Turkel manages to seal the tomb by blowing up his party. Decades later his granddaughter Sam follows her grandfathers footsteps and leads an expedition to find out what really happened. They discover the tomb and after some disturbing incidents, head back to London. At the time when a prestigious exhibition on Talos opens in the national museum, London is terrorized by mysterious murders, investigated by a young police officer.Â
As always, the KFEB hosts provide ratings for the films that are based on the fun, enjoyment, and craziness of the film. These scores will be tabulated and an on-going grid will keep you up to date with the search.
So sit back and enjoy the laughs as KFEB reassembles the boogaloo of a pair of wacky b-movies!
