Yakmala! Yakmala! It’s time to learn the ancient art of Gymkata!
Welcome to the debut episode of a podcast in which five friends begin an epic journey in search of the ultimate b-movie.
Join Stan Adu, Jim Kata, Jack Hall, Nic Boxer, and Brad Dock as they explore from the early days of the double bill, through grindhouse, VHS, and on to Netflix to find the movie that truly has more heart than budget.
This episode, the boys look at 1985’s Gymkata. Considered by many to be one of the quintessential films of the VHS action era, Gymkata tells the tale of an American gymnast who travels to a foreign country to compete in a deadly game that … is really hard to describe… do you remember Mousetrap? It’s sort of like that but with more ninjas and lunatics.
As always, the KFEB hosts will provide ratings for the films that are based on the fun, enjoyment, and craziness of the film. These scores will be tabulated and an on-going grid will keep you up to date with the search.
So sit back and enjoy the laughs as KFEB celebrates one of the most hilarious films ever to hit the sound stages of Yugoslavia.
After listening check in with The Octagon, our on-going ranking of the movies covered in KFEB.Â
Join us all season as we explore the action movie genre we can only call “White Dragons: All American Ninjas!”
Note: Brad is off this week.
